This week I’m touching on one of the biggest controversies in climbing. I have a few rules in life. Number 1 is ‘food shouldn’t hurt’, and I pretty much feel the same way about climbing shoes. I don’t get climbers who engage in what is essentially foot binding, to do routes I’ve seen others do in trainers without laces! When was the last time you saw a mountain goat wincing in pain to get a better grip? Which side of the debate do you come down on? On a vaguely connected point, I found out this week that in Spanish, climbing shoes are called ‘pies de gato’. Cat feet!  Thanks Climbskin 🙂
